We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, located in Spencer, IA, dedicated to providing individuals with physical, cognitive, or developmental disabilities the opportunity to connect with a horse and experience the many benefits.
Through equine-assisted services we provide individuals hope, the opportunity to build courage, increase dignity, and improve physical fitness while connecting with horses.
All of our volunteer owned horses are screened prior to use in our programs for health, behaviors, and safe traits.
We offer two six week seasons:
Each session will meet 1x/wk for 6 wks - typically Tuesdays.
Our horseback riding experience provides individuals the opportunity to connect with and ride a horse. All horses are led by the horse owners, or a qualified volunteer. A team of volunteers will assist each individual participant to provide support and encouragement throughout each session.

Physician's Clearance will need to be on file and updated annually in order to participate.
**If the rider has Down's Syndrome, the referring physician will need to rule out Atlanto-Axial Dislocation Condition via a diagnostic x-ray. Due to health risks, an individual whom has the presence of Atlanto-Axial Dislocation would not qualify for our horse back riding programs.
We are accepting participant applications on a rolling basis, so you may apply at anytime.
A parent or guardian will need to complete and submit the General Application Details
Then, a member of our team will touch base with you to gather a few additional pieces of information for our Selection Committee. An in person intake may be included and would require the Physician Clearance form to be completed before hand.
Participants and/or wait list participants will need to complete the following Annually:
Prior to each season, our Selection Committee will review the applicant list and best match horses, participants, and session groups based on application details, horse availability, appropriate tack, support requirements, etc.
A notification will be emailed regarding selections, wait list, or areas of concern, approximately 3 weeks prior to the start of the first session.
Selected applicants, and those wishing to be listed on the wait list, will need to accept their position in the season and ensure all paperwork is up to date and on file ASAP prior to the start of their season.
By accepting, you agree to make every effort to attend 1x/wk for approximately 1 hr each week for the duration of the program.
If an individual is not chosen as a participant for a specific season, has all required paperwork on file, and meets our requirements, they may be placed on our Wait-List. This means that should a participant be unable to attend a session, you may be contacted and offered to participate for a session(s). Contact would occur as early as possible following notification from a participant that they are unable to attend.
Each season runs for 6 weeks and meets 1x/week - typically Tuesdays
